STUDENT LIFE

Students spend a majority of their time at school, and at ES American School, we aim to provide enriching experiences for everyone throughout the year. Whether it be one of our traditional school wide events, an excursion, or an after school club, students are given ample opportunities to live the local culture and create life long memories with their classmates and teachers.

SPIRIT HOUSES

All students attending ES American School (1st through 12th Grades) are organized into one of eight Spirit Houses. The Spirit House System provides students with an opportunity to stay connected about topics that concern them, promote a healthy and constructive mode of competition based on behavior, results and cooperation, establish leadership modules, and foster a sense of community and collaboration among peers. Towards the end of the year, the Spirit Teams participate in a two part competition: Spirit Day and Mental Mania. Students put their academic and athletic skills to the test for a full day of fun, exciting competition. It is easily the most anticipated event of the year.

EXCURSIONS

At ES American School, we offer our students many field trip opportunities throughout the year. Students from all grade levels will enjoy activities off campus to experience Barcelona and its surroundings. These trips provide a community building opportunity that will help develop relationships and memories that will last a lifetime. Each year we go to new locations to ensure our students will always enjoy new sights and adventures. All of our field trips are chaperoned by ES American School teachers, creating a family-like environment among teachers and students.

These are just some of the places our students have visited:

GRADUATION

At ES American School, the annual graduation ceremony is a distinguished tradition. All members of the senior class (12 th grade) are given the opportunity to address the audience directly and reflect upon the memories from their years spent at our school.

STUDENT COUNCIL

ES American School is proud to offer its students the opportunity to serve as student leaders through the ES American School Student Council.

Student Council members are elected at the start of each academic year by the ES American School student body provided for by the Student Council Constitution. All full-time, year-long ES American School students with a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher are eligible to serve as officers or representatives on the Student Council for the academic year in which they are elected.

The Student Council provides valued communication to the school and tennis academy about those issues of interest and importance affecting the lives of our student-athletes. These student leaders commit their time, energy, and ideas in order to improve the quality of life for all in our community, and they also try to add a few moments of fun to everyone’s intense schedule. By working together, they have established some memorable traditions for other student-athletes to experience and enjoy for years to come. Working as a team is their constant endeavor.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF 2021 - 2022

Dear ES American School Community Members,

My name is Andreas and my journey in this school started 4 years ago. I came here in 9th grade, which for me was a big challenge because I decided to come to a school where I didn’t know anyone and where I couldn’t speak my mother language. After 4 years, I can say that the decision that I made to come to this school is one of the best that I have made so far in my life.

This year I’ve been elected as the new president of the Student Council. For me, it is a great honor to be part of this school, and I will try my best to successfully complete this year as your president. I plan to do whatever it takes to help care for all the students and important school issues.

I wanted to be this year’s Student Council president because I think that during these hard moments of living in a pandemic, there has to be a person who is going to manage these difficult situations. With the help of all the students and teachers in the school, this year we have to be more united than ever and think as one. I will show consistently that I’m prepared to take on this challenge and prove that I can be a great role model. I want to help others see that in this school we are more than a group of students; we are a family. We will all succeed and achieve our goals together.

See you soon,

Andreas Chapides

STUDENT COUNCIL ACTIVITIES

The Student Council members and advisors are some of the most active members in our community. They work diligently throughout the year to provide our students with fun and exciting opportunities to socialize, experience new cultures, and help people in need. They help create new traditions in our school that help define who we are, and raise money for charities that help local children.
